ASSISTANT BREWER/CELLARPERSON

We are looking for a team-oriented, hard-working individual to join our small-but-mighty production team. Our brew team is incredibly hands-on, managing production of our small batch beers from grain to can. In this highly varied role, you will assist our Lead Brewer with brewing, cellaring, and packaging beer. The role is responsible for all facets of beer-making, maintaining high quality standards, and ensuring a clean, safe environment in the brewery. We are looking for someone with 1-2 years experience working in a commercial brewery or brewpub.

Assistant Brewer:

  • Assist with all aspects of wort production from mash-in to knock-out

  • CIP brewhouse and all related equipment

  • Maintain sanitary working conditions and equipment at all times

  • Provide routine maintenance of mill and brewhouse equipment

  • Organize malt orders, prep for daily malt needs, and assist with grain-in

  • Operate the boiler, fill hot and cold liquor tanks, and treat water as needed

  • Ensuring tanks are cleaned and sanitized before knockout

  • Consistently communicate with lead brewer, and assist where needed

  • Record and capture daily work

Cellar Work:

  • Perform cleaning, sanitation, and CO2 purging on fermentation vessels and brite tanks

  • Dry hop, fruit, and other dosing throughout various stages of cellaring

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of brewery equipment & parts, including cellar floors, drains, and tank exteriors

  • Monitor the quality of the product: temperature, gravity, pH, and carbonation on all fermentation vessels and BBTs

  • Cleaning, maintain, and organize brewery cooperage

  • Assist with packaging operations: keg filling, canning, and cleaning procedures.

  • Assist with accurately harvesting yeast and pitching

  • Communicate regularly, efficiently, and effectively with teammates

  • Identify and communicate problems with equipment or malfunctions

  • Take inventory and maintain par levels on commonly used products

  • Assist other brewery departments as neede

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a production environment with loud noises, strong odors, wet surfaces, and both hot and cold temperatures

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constant movement

  • Ability to work as scheduled by management which includes early mornings and occasional weekends 

  • Ability to sit, stand and/or or walk for long periods of time

  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, twist, stoop, and climb ladders

  • Ability to lift 60 pounds without assistance 

  • Ability to pull, pull or maneuver a full kegs (160 lbs)

  • Ability to follow all company safety standards, including proper use of PPE and compliance with OSHA guidelines

  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record — forklift certification is a plus

  • 21+ Years of Age

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
